HOW IT WORKS - RECORDINGS
Firstly Darren would ask for a brief meeting or phone consultation. Or if that is not possible, for you to send a short recording of your voice as it is now, preferably over a week before you come in to record. Darren will then search and chose suitable material specific to what he deems your strengths to be, with a variety to showcase dynamics in your range.
Once the material is ready and on the day of recording, we will briefly discuss the recording process, basic mic control and studio etiquette. We will then begin rehearsing and deal with any questions you may have.
This is followed by some voice and articulation exercises (and plenty of tea) before getting into the booth to record.
As everyone is different, we will learn where your strengths in the studio lie and together we will produce the best possible reel for you.
The recording should take between 2 - 4 hours depending on your experience and ability. But don't worry, if it takes longer we will not charge you extra. We only schedule in one recording per day, so are able to accommodate you until everyone is happy.
You will receive two reels (around 60-75 seconds each) in your preferred format. One is a selection of different commercials and the other a mix of drama, documentary and narrative. Reels are ready within 14 days of the initial recordings.
