UNDERSTANDING THE THREE P's

PHYSIOLOGY - The physical functionality of our vocal instrument.

It is often difficult to hide the story we tell with our bodies, even if we acknowledge and understand how we present ourselves. That said, if we are continually conscious of  “what we are doing with our hands” then we run the risk of appearing robotic and communicate superficially.
What we can do however is become more mindful of our physical state. Acknowledging and preparing ourselves to connect our intentions through actions congruent with our message and relieving any physical barriers that restrict the flow of communication.

PSYCHOLOGY - Thoughts feelings and perceptions regarding vocal production.

In any situation that requires speaking (this includes networking & social settings), many of us can feel nervous, shy and even overwhelmed.
These debilitating thoughts and feelings negatively affect our ability to communicate effectively.
How we view ourselves, the world and the inner dialogue that contribute to our inner wellbeing and conflict, directly correspond to our ability to think and act clearly in public speaking environments. Calm, present and able to deliver a confident, dynamic and engaging speech.

PERFORMANCE - Craft, skill and technical ability.

Rhetorical devices, technical details, storytelling, clarity of speech, presentation methods, tools, tricks and ideas regarding gifting yourself and ideas to the world. Our performance ability is a direct reflection of how well we present ourselves. If the first two P's are working well then this one usually comes together quite nicely, but we can always tidy up our pitch, make our speech more concise and learn to articulate appropriately for the audience and room we are in.

SCORE CARDS

PHYSIOLOGY SCORE = HIGH - 74 out of 100

According to the test results you have scored 'high' in the physical aspects of voice production with regard to Public speaking. Since your instrument (body) and its functionality are your number one asset as a speaker, having a score of over seventy puts you in the top percentile in this category. Its great that you have managed to gain and train your voice to work so optimally and it's worth maintaining these qualities so you can continue to dominate in the future.

Since you are doing so well in this category already there might not be any urgent need to seek a professional voice coach but if you have clear goals and are looking to address the finer details of voice production, like accent reduction or dynamics of expression then perhaps a booking a voice assessment for feedback might be helpful with some hints and tips to excel even further. But as for the important stuff, It looks like you got this anyway. Well done!

At this point you may or may not benefit from working with a coach one-to-one as the fundamentals that would be taught at this level can be learned and practiced at home saving you both time and money. Consistency and discipline are what's needed if you want to upgrade your vocal ability, so taking a foundational course like the '8-week Improve Your Voice course' would be hugely beneficial and help provide the groundwork to build on in all other areas. It's not bad at all, but how much do you want it?

PHYSIOLOGY SCORE = LOW - 18 out of 100

I would heartily
recommend you visit a Clinical Speech Pathologist just to rule out any issues before you decide on a course of action for vocal improvement. You would benefit from the in person examination and advice that a clinical practitioner might offer. Should any pain or injury be present or to your knowledge, then perhaps a doctor may even be the best person to provide advice on what to do next.
